Food poisoning is an illness that can cause fever, vomiting, and stomach cramps. There are many different types of food poisoning such as bacterial, viral or parasitic. The type of food poisoning that you have will depend on the source- for example if it’s from a bacterium like salmonella then it would be considered “bacterial.” If you get sick after eating at a restaurant and there was no obvious cross contamination then you might suspect your illness is because of norovirus or E-coli which are both viruses. Parasites such as tapeworms can also cause food poisoning so learning about what causes each kind helps identify how to prevent them in the future!
